Haydn Kissick, PhD
Assistant Professor, Emory Vaccine Center, Department of Urology/Department of Microbiology and Immunology
Haydn T. Kissick, PhD, is Assistant Professor in the Division of Translational Research in the Department of Urology with a joint appointment in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Emory University School of Medicine.
Dr. Kissick's research focuses on using next generation sequencing to identify mutations to be used in personalized vaccine targets for prostate cancer. Having used these techniques in mouse models to identify novel vaccine candidates targeting mutations, Dr. Kissick and colleagues found that the immune system responds effectively against these mutations. They are now evaluating vaccines targeting mutations in prostate cancer patients as personalized immunotherapeutic vaccines. He is also interested in characterizing how the immune response to cancer is impaired by inducing exhaustion in tumor-specific CD8 T-cells, and therapies to overcome this.
